Here are a few photos of the project

This is a photo of the house from the north end.

I will use this page to show some before and after photos of this project. We hope to add a modern addition to the house which will contain a kitchen, bath and family room. If we can get the space, maybe a loft bedroom. This will give us a comfortable place to retreat into while renovating the original house.

Our biggest challenge will be to upgrade the HVAC and electric in the house. A missing load bearing wall in the living room will be the among the first of many projects.

Update: The HVAC really wasn't a nightmare. The workers were told if they damaged the old house......they understood. We do though have some strange pipes that need boxes built arounfd them.

The "load bearing wall" really wasn't. It's a large timber framed section that indeed was sagging but there was no cracking of plaster or timbers. We chose only to support the wall rather than jack it up and create more work for ourselves. This will be a wall that will house cabinets and divide the two rooms. So what if the upstairs slopes a bit. Let the next person worry about it.
